Shelby Hickman

Shelby Hickman is a staff writer for Grandstand Magazine. She is a fourth‑year journalism student specializing in sports and media with a minor in public relations. She also works as a social media intern for the University Athletic Association, serves as the editorial director of Spoon UF and is the treasurer of the Association for Women in Sports Media.
She has always had a passion for writing, crafting elaborate tales with fictional characters and far-fetched plots as a child. Over time, she grew interested in telling the stories of real people – a path that led her from small-town Millsboro, Delaware, to the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.
After graduation, she hopes to work for a major sports news outlet and continue sharing the stories of athletes around the world.
When she isn’t writing, she can be found reading, cooking or showing photos of her corgi, Cheddar, to anyone willing to look at them.
